Frequently Asked Questions

What is Filmatique?

Filmatique is a boutique streaming service that releases one new film per week.  Our curated platform specializes in award-winning art-house and festival films from new directors and established auteurs around the world.  Consciously moving against the grain of consumption-driven media platforms, Filmatique seeks to carve out a space of discourse around its films, encouraging audiences to engage more deeply.  Each release screens as part of a monthly series, and we strive to publish exclusive editorial content—including filmmaker interviews and scholarly essays—to provide as much social, cultural, and political context as possible.

How much is a subscription?

Filmatique offers all subscribers a free 14-day trial, which will automatically renew to the payment method provided at sign-up.  A monthly subscription is $4.95/month, while a discounted annual subscription is $49.95 per year.

Can I watch Filmatique's releases if I live outside the United States and Canada?

Filmatique is currently available to stream in the US and Canada only; audiences outside these territories will not be able to access our releases.  However, Filmatique's editorial content is available online and free to read worldwide.

On which devices can I stream Filmatique's releases?

You can watch Filmatique on your computer, tablet, or phone, or enjoy our releases on the big(ger) screen by downloading our proprietary apps on Amazon FireTV, Roku, AppleTV, and iOS, which will allow you to stream to your television.

How do I set up Filmatique on my smart TV?

To watch our films on your smart TV, type 'Filmatique' in the search bar and add us as a channel to your device. Filmatique will then appear in your menu. Click the Filmatique icon to log in, then enter your email and password credentials (you will typically just have to do this once!). Then you're good to go!

How many films are in Filmatique's library?

Filmatique introduces new films each month, operating on a slow-consumption model that encourages audiences to savor each film. Our library contains over 300 films at any time, all hand-picked by our curators.

Are films subtitled?

The majority of Filmatique's films are foreign-language with English subtitles. We do have some English-language films, which are not subtitled. Unfortunately, Filmatique only has access to subtitle tracks provided by the film's producers/distributors, but we are working to gather the resources to provide more options.
